Michael Joseph Collins Jnr
Michael Collins was born in the Markets area in 1921. Teasie McIlhone was born in Baker Street in the Pound Loney area of the Falls Road in 1921. The two married and raised their family in Lavinia Street on the Ormeau Road. Their first born child Barney died in infancy of convulsions. Michael Snr was in the Navy in his younger days, he died in 1984 from cancer.
His wife Teasie was a stall-holder in St Georges Market in the Markets area of Belfast where she was a well-known character. She had one arm amputated during her 40s but carried on with her life. In later years she lived in Powerscourt Place on the Ormeau Road where she was surrounded by her devoted family until she died after a short illness at Christmas time in 1997.
They were survived by their children Michael, Harry, Breege, Mary, Belle, Rosie & Teasie and their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harry lived in Hatfield Street and later Essex Street on the Ormeau Road always staying close to home. He enjoyed a smoke and a drink with his many friends. Harry passed away suddenly & unexpectantly 2 years after the death of his mother in Oct 1999.
Michael (Mr Fix It!) spent time living in London & Farnborough but always returned home to Belfast. He had one daughter Natalie and he now has a young grandson Shea and a new baby grandson Fionn whom he never got a chance to meet. Michael jnr died in Oct 2003 just 3 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.
They are all sorely missed by their children, sisters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren and the wider family circle.
Their memory lives on in all of us.
